Shun Wu Tang (順武堂) draws from three core Southern Kung Fu systems. Together they form a balanced system that is hard and soft, internal and external.
5th Generation: Grandmaster Sū Jīn Miǎo (蘇金淼) – Introduced Shun Wu Tang to South Africa and continues to lead its global tradition.
Grandmaster Sū Jīn Miǎo (蘇金淼) began training in Kung Fu at the age of three under the guidance of his father, uncles, and brothers in Taiwan. Over the years, he expanded his skills to include Běi Shào Lín (北少林), Tài Jí Quán (太极拳), Bái Jí Quán (白极拳), Qì Gōng (气功), Shuāi Jiāo (摔跤), Tái Quán Dào (跆拳道), and went on to serve as a military police bodyguard to the Taiwanese president.
In 1983 he brought Shun Wu Tang (順武堂) to South Africa, where he established a branch and trained many South African first generations Shun Wu Tang instructors.
He has also made a major contribution to the adoption of martial arts in schools in Yunlin County in Taiwan and has, since 2002, been teaching Gōngfu (功夫), Tài Jí Quán (太极拳), Qì Gōng (气功), Zhèn Fǎ (阵法) and Wǔ Shī (舞狮).
For decades, thousands of students have trained under his guidance across the world with active schools in South Africa, France and The Netherlands – learning not just techniques but the philosophy, discipline, and spirit that define true traditional Kung Fu.
Among these dedicated practitioners are the first generation of South African Shun Wu Tang (順武堂) students, pioneers who carried the torch of traditional Kung Fu from its earliest days in the country. These first-generation students remain active today, and for approximately 40 years they have served as vital cultural and martial bridges between South Africa and Taiwan, maintaining close ties with Grandmaster Sū Jīn Miǎo (蘇金淼) through annual training trips to Taiwan and by hosting international camps locally. Their dedication ensures that the philosophy, discipline, and spirit of Shun Wu Tang (順武堂) continue to thrive, inspiring martial artists both at home and abroad.
